Hip Stretches for Back Pain

Misalignment of the hips is a common contributing factor for back pain. Dario, one of our Myotherapists, demonstrates the correct way to use a foam roller to target tight spots in the hips.

1.) Lower your hip onto the side of the roller that you are targeting.
2.) Elevate the leg opposite the targeted hip onto the other leg, stabilizing yourself with your hand.
3.) Roll until you find tight spots.
4.) Hold until pain subsides, this can be anywhere between 30 seconds and 5 minutes.

The angle at which you are targeting the hip can be adjusted by moving your leg up and down.

Myotherapy and the management of Back Pain

Through regular treatment and stretching, Myotherapy can help to reduce back pain. The technique we have shown here is great at working out issues with the hips, however if you have strong or persistent back pain, we strongly recommend that you come in and see one of our qualified Myotherapists or Remedial Massage Therapists.
